Canoeing
So is it any wonder that Canadian Natives first developed the canoe and kayak. Early Inuit used these vessels for hunting, the craft they needed was one that could make trips along ice flows and back to the hunt. Nestled deep within Banff National Park, Lake Louise is enveloped by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. The sheer beauty of the glistening glaciers, remote ice fields, snowcapped peaks and crystal-clear lakes create a dramatic setting of unparalleled mystique. Renowned as the largest single mountain ski area in North America and one of the best alpine skiing regions in the world, Lake Louise offers other outdoor activities including interpretive hiking, mountaineering, canoeing, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, golf, ATV tours, boat cruises, and whitewater rafting. Winter activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, skating parties on Lake Louise, snowshoeing, canyon winter walks, stargazing, fireside chats, and dog sledding. The late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau loved canoeing, famously commenting that it makes you "a child of nature". Become a child yourself again (or bring the kids along) on a paddle across world-famous Lake Louise. Life moves in perfect unison with the sights and sounds of the wild as you guide your bright red canoe across brilliant blue-green waters toward the towering Victoria Glacier. No previous experience required, the Sports Department will demonstrate the skills first-timers need.
